Like every year in our village Raowal Nagar Kirtan was organized on February 24th,2024 by Gurudawara Begampura Sahib on the occasion of Bhagat Ravidas ji’s birthday. Bhagat Ravidas Ji, also known as Guru Ravidas, was a highly revered saint, poet, and social reformer who lived during the 15th and 16th centuries in India. He was born in the village of Seer Govardhanpur, near Varanasi in present-day Uttar Pradesh. Nagar Kirtan was started from Gurudawara BegaumPura Sahib, located in the South direction of the village Raowal. All the Sangat joined the Nagar Kirtan from Gurudawara Sahib. Nagar Kirtan stopped at a few locations in the village which were in front of Dharmashala close by the bus stand, Patti Bhai kay (North side of the village), Patti Hero (East side of the village), Patti Grewal (South East side of the village). During each stop, there was an arrangement of tea and snacks for the Sangat.
During this Nagar Kirtan, the Sikh holy scripture, Guru Granth Sahib, carried on a decorated float, known as a Palki or Palanquin, accompanied by devotees singing hymns and playing musical instruments. The procession of the Nagar Kirtan led by the Panj Pyare, the five beloved ones chosen during the time of Sarbansdani Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, who carry the Sikh flag, known as the Nishan Sahib.
